Overview
What is a Compressor?
“A device that converts power into kinetic energy by
compressing and pressurizing air, which, on command,
can be released in quick bursts.” [1] - Wikipedia

“A device that takes air at atmospheric pressure and delivery it at

higher pressure” or “ A mechanical device that compresses gasses”

Inhaled air is compressed until the volume reduced 8 times
& Absolute pressure rises 8 times.

intakes air and pushes the air to move through the
threads of the rotors. The movement reduces the
space formed by the threads, and the pressure of
air increases. Air will then exit at the end of the
screws.

Function of Compressor Oil

Oil Flow Important points during oil change

• Coolant • Completely Discharge the unit of all oil
• Lubricant • No Oil Mixture
• Seal

Operation

12
Operation

• Control Panel
Start Operation can be initiated by
turning the start key to the run
position and allowing the glow
plugs to cycle. After 5-10 seconds
you can fully turn the key to the
start position to start the unit. The
unit should be allowed to warm up
for a 3-5 minute period before work
should start. This will ensure that
the compressor oil is at operating
temperature and moving throughout
the system.
Monitor Features:

13
Regeneration
If the unit should ever call for
Regeneration, the Regeneration
Switch will start flashing. This
indicates that the DPF has too
much buildup and requires the
service valves to be closed and the
Switch pushed until it stays solid
red. At this time the unit will begin
its regeneration. This will take
between 30-45 minutes, and once
complete the lights will disappear
and the unit will be ready for
operation again.

Compressor Air End
This picture shows the air flow
coming in through the unloader and
into the screws, where it is
compressed and then forced out
through the discharge to the
receiver tank.
This will be a Air and Oil mixture as
the oil is needed for Lubricant,
Coolant, and Seal. It seals the gaps
between the screws to keep air
from escaping backwards to the
unloader.

18
Piston Style Unloader

The Piston Style Unloader allows

the compressor to draw in air to Valve
build up and maintain pressure
during normal operation, but closes
to stop the draw of air during
unloaded operation. The valve face Piston
should be inspected and cleaned
often to ensure no debris are
stopping its ability to close. The
spring and O-ring should be
Spring
replaced every 2,000 hours.

19
Pressure Regulator
The Pressure Regulator is used to
maintain system output pressure.
During normal operation it
maintains the system pressure by
keeping the unloader open to keep
in the draw of air. During unloaded
operation, once the pressure in the
receiver tank is met, its sends the
air pressure to the unloader and
closes the valve so that no more air
can enter the system.
Receiver
*Note, all units are set up 100 Psi Tank Unloader
operation and should not be
adjusted.

20
Receiver Tank
The Receiver Tank holds the
compressor oil and also the
pressurized air from the Air
compressor end. As the air/oil
mixture enters, the oil is flung
against the side walls and drains
down to the bottom while the air
escapes through the top. This
process will create and oil mist that
will escape with the pressurized

air.

21
Air/Oil Separator
The Air/Oil Separator removes the
oil mist from the pressurized air
before it can go the service valves.
This oil mist will drain down and is
released through a scavenging line
back to the compressor end.
The Air/Oil separator filter should
be replaced every 1,000 hours.

Tank
*Note that even with this filter setup
that some oil mist will still be seen
in compressor output air.

22
Scavenging Line Orifice
The scavenging line allows the
build up of oil mist to escape the
Air/Oil separator filter and return to
the compressor end. This line has a
strainer that must be cleaned to
prevent buildup. Strainer
Strainer maintenance is every 500
hours, or if large amounts of oil is
coming out of the service valves.

*Most new models will no longer

Check valve
have a check valve in the
scavenging line.

23
Pressure Control Valve
The Pressure Control Valve is
designed to make sure the system
maintains proper air pressure so
that oil can move throughout the
system. Without the pressure
control valve maintaining this
pressure there would be nothing to
ensure oil flow. Service Air

Safety Valve
The Safety valve is keep the
system pressure from over
pressurizing and damaging internal
components. The Safety valve will
release when system pressure
rises above 145psi.
