Points to note
Indoor testing
1. About 1 to 1.5 m from the ground above the squat or seat pan Ambient air particulate comprehensive sampler
2. Superstructure door to remain closed during entire sampling
3. Threshold values in ppm are based on ideal conditions (1 atm

Measurement
EPA Method 1A
Inlet = min 8D
Points to note Outlet = min 8D
1. Most significant sources of air pollutants within the NSSS
2. External gas vent/Stack as outlined in EPA Method 1A
3. The guideline generally helps to remove inaccurate readings and best practices

Notes
• NOx molecular weight was based on NO2 (46 g/mol)
• VOC was using a conventionally set conversion factor of (1.608) which is using the carbon content or propane. Propane is also used
as the test gas for adjustment of the FID analyser
• PAH is using Benzo-a-pyrene as lead component for PAHs in Germany. The limit values for benzo-a-pyrene is 0.05 mg/m3 in
Germany, which is used for the sum of PAH in the threshold value.
ii. Error
➢ For consistency and easy pass/fail criteria comparison,
threshold values should be revised as well.
