This communication is for PGDT student teachers only, offered for HPGD4606/HPGP4606 Practicum Course
for Semester May 2023.
For practicum registration, the course will be registered once the students submit the Form A/documents. The
offer for the internship will be automatically cancelled from the system if we do not receive the Form A/documents
by the specified deadline.
Your practicum teaching is dependent on one of the following:

A. PRACTICUM NORMAL: PRACTICUM IN A SCHOOL OR ANY REGISTERED TEACHING

INSTITUTION
1. Criteria ● Student-teachers without formal or less than 5 years teaching
experience in a school or teaching institution.

2. Practicum duration Mode 1(4 weeks): Mode 1 is for student-teachers with more than
one-year formal teaching experience in a public/private school or
any teaching institution. Student-teachers are required to provide a
copy of certified letters/documents of your teaching experience.

Mode 2 (8 weeks): Mode 2 is for student-teachers with less than

one-year formal teaching experience in a public/private school.
Student-teachers are required to provide a copy of certified letters
/documents of your teaching experience. See sample.

Mode 3 (12 weeks): Mode 3 is for student-teachers with no formal

teaching experience in a public / private school.

Note: Teaching experience in tuition centre and kindergarten is not

accepted.

3. Teaching placement in Primary/secondary/international school/college/university.

4. Application for teaching Student teachers must bring the necessary documents to present to
placement the school authorities when required, such as:

● Letter of approval from OUM

● Form A (information about the placement)
● Letter of approval from KPM* (if applicable)

5. Form A submission After you have received permission from the school or teaching
deadline institution to carry out your practicum, please scan all the required
documents and send them by email (Form A) to:
nooruzaila@oum.edu.my before or at the latest by 31 May
2023.
Late submission will not be accepted.

7. Course registration Students will be notified by RPMU via email once the documents
have been approved by the programme management and the
course is registered.

8. Date of practicum Starting on 2 May 2023. However, the actual date depends on the
teaching student's availability and agreement with the school.

B. PRACTICUM ASSIGNMENT- BASED ON ASSIGNMENT TASK

1. Criteria Student-teachers with 5 years or more teaching experience in a

school or other teaching institution (primary/ secondary/ college /
university) and still in service. Teaching experience in tuition centres
and kindergartens is not accepted.

2. Method In this method, student teachers do not have to do a practical

teaching in the school, but have to complete a task based on the
practical assignment.

3. Application Student teachers must submit certified documentation of their 5

years of professional experience from their respective school board
