    This fable tells the story of Mr. Termite who wanted to marry Miss Beetle, but she always refused him because she did not like him. One day when Mr. Termite came to ask again, Miss Beetle threw boiling water on him from her house. Mr. Termite was angry and said he and his descendants would always despise Miss Beetle and her kind. To this day, termites still show their hatred for beetles. The lesson is that one should think carefully about how their actions could have long-lasting negative consequences.

    The Termite and the Beetle

    Mr. Termite wanted to marry Miss Beetle. Many times he told her
    of his love and begged her to become his wife, but she always
    refused, for she did not like him.

    One day when she saw Mr. Termite coming again, Miss Beetle
    closed all the doors and windows of her house and made ready a
    pot of boiling water. She waited, and when Mr. Termite called,
    begging her to allow him to enter, she answered by throwing
    boiling water at him. This made Mr. Termite very angry and he
    cried, “I will never forgive you for this, but I and my descendants
    will always despise you. We will never give you any peace.”

    Mr. Termite kept his word, and even today one can see the hatred
    of the termite for the beetle.
