Work Instructions for Air End Overhauling of Compressors

Preparation: Before beginning the air end overhauling process, make sure that the compressor is shut
down and disconnected from the power source. Remove any components that may be in the way, such
as belts, hoses, and filters, to access the air end.

Disassembly: Begin by removing the screws that hold the top cover of the air end in place. Carefully
remove the cover and set it aside. Next, remove the screws that hold the inlet and outlet flanges in
place. Use a hammer and a soft punch to remove the flanges from the air end.

Inspection: Once the air end has been disassembled, inspect the internal components for signs of
damage or wear. Check the rotors, bearings, seals, and gaskets for any signs of wear, scoring, or damage.
If any components are found to be damaged, they will need to be replaced.

Cleaning: Clean all components of the air end with a solvent to remove any dirt or debris that may have
accumulated. Be sure to dry all components thoroughly before proceeding to the next step.

Reassembly: Begin by installing new gaskets on the inlet and outlet flanges. Carefully install the flanges
back onto the air end and tighten the screws. Next, install the rotors and bearings, making sure to follow
the manufacturer's specifications for torque and alignment.

Final Checks: Before reassembling the compressor, check the clearance between the rotors and the
housing to ensure that it is within the manufacturer's specifications. Install new seals on the rotor shafts
and coat them with oil. Reinstall the top cover of the air end and connect any hoses, filters, or other
components that were removed.

Testing: Finally, start the compressor and test the air end to ensure that it is functioning properly.
Monitor the compressor's performance and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that it is running
smoothly.

Note: It is important to follow all safety protocols when working with compressors, including wearing the
appropriate personal protective equipment and following all manufacturer instructions for tools and
equipment. Additionally, proper disposal procedures should be followed in accordance with local and
federal regulations for any chemicals or waste generated during the process.
