Work Instruction for Engine Coolant Heater Replacement

Preparation

a. Before starting work on the engine, make sure it is turned off and cool to the touch. Disconnect the
negative terminal of the battery.

b. Open the hood and locate the engine coolant heater. It is usually located on the engine block or the
intake manifold.

c. Gather all necessary tools and equipment, including a socket set, a wrench set, pliers, and a
replacement engine coolant heater.

d. Make sure that you have the correct replacement heater by comparing the old heater with the new
one.

Removal of the old engine coolant heater

a. Drain the coolant from the engine by opening the drain plug on the radiator.

b. Disconnect the hoses from the engine coolant heater. Use pliers to loosen the hose clamps and gently
pull the hoses off the heater.

c. Unplug the electrical connector from the engine coolant heater.

d. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the engine coolant heater in place using a socket set or wrench
set.

e. Carefully remove the old engine coolant heater from the engine.

Installation of the new engine coolant heater

a. Install the new engine coolant heater in the same location as the old one.

b. Tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

c. Reconnect the hoses to the engine coolant heater and tighten the hose clamps.

d. Plug in the electrical connector to the engine coolant heater.

e. Refill the engine with coolant and replace the radiator drain plug.

f. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

g. Turn on the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the engine coolant
heater and hoses.
h. Check the coolant level in the radiator and add more if necessary.

Clean up

a. Dispose of the old engine coolant heater properly.

b. Clean up any spilled coolant or debris.

c. Close the hood and dispose of any used materials.
