Ensure you have a clean and well-ventilated workspace with sufficient lighting.
Wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves, safety glasses, and a face mask.
Engine Disassembly:
Securely support the engine and remove the cylinders, ensuring you keep track of
the piston and ring orientation.
Inspect the cylinders for wear, scoring, or damage. Measure them for proper
tolerance.
Remove the wrist pin clips and slide out the pistons.
Inspect the pistons, rings, and wrist pins for wear, damage, or signs of
overheating.
Crankcase Disassembly:
Securely support the engine and remove the primary drive, clutch, and transmission.
Remove the camshaft(s) and cam chain tensioners.
Carefully split the crankcase by removing the remaining bolts.
Separate the crankcase halves and inspect for damage or excessive wear.
Cleaning and Inspection:
Thoroughly clean all disassembled components, removing dirt, oil, and debris.
Inspect all parts for wear, damage, or signs of failure.
Measure critical tolerances and compare them to specifications in the service
manual.
Replace any worn or damaged parts, including gaskets, seals, bearings, and valves.
