For last week's topic this will be your assessment:

-in your own words, explain how to overhaul the ff:
1. Reciprocating pump
2. Screw and gear pump
3. Centrifugal pump
And for this week's topic at the end of the lesson you are expected to:
1. explain in your own words how to overhaul air compressor
2. Discuss safety measures before dismantling, adjustment and reassembly of an air compressor.
For any questions or clarifications feel free to email me.
Be safe everyone.

BEFORE STARTING ANY OVERHAULTHE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE REQUIRED:

A. "WARNING-OUT OF SERVICE" driver and tag power control box de-energize

and lock out.
B. "WARNING-OUT OF USE," close all inlet and outlet valves.

C. Remove pipe fittings/flanges at pump inlet and outlet openings.

D. Remove bolts holding pump to its mounting.

E. Remove key (13) from power rotor (7) shaft and locate pump on a suitable workbench

F. Drain pumping liquid from pump.

1. Remove bolts and cover from case. Remove O-ring from either case or cover.

2. Remove power rotor and idlers as a set from housing. Take care not to drop idlers as rotor set
is removed from housing.

3. Remove bolts (003) and cover (002) from case (001). Clean Loctite Gasket Eliminator from
cover (002) and flange of case (001).

4. Remove housing (075) from inlet end of case (001) and O-ring (076) from housing (075)

PROCEDURE TO DISMANTLE
Drain the lube oil completely before dismantling. Loosen all the bolts of the inlet and outlet pipes and
remove the pipes and arrange them in a separate tray. Now remove the refrigerant filter.Loosen all the
bolts on the cylinder head and remove them one by one.It is always a good practice to loosen the bolts
diagonally. Now remove the cylinder head of all the units one by one.Loosen the bolts of the lube oil
sump and remove the coverRemove the shaft seal, end cover along with the lube oil gear pump, which is
mounted on the same shaft. Remove the crankcase oil strainer from the crankcase.Remove the lube oil
relief valve and the relief valve, which is used for the refrigerant. Loosen the bottom end bearing nuts of
all the units one by one and remove the bottom half. Don’t damage the bearing shell. Now the piston
along with the connecting rod can be removed from the top without damaging the liner. Similarly
remove the piston of all the units.Remove the liner along with the cylinder sleeve of all the units and
place them in a tray. The unloader lift pin and the unloader assembly can be taken out.Now pull the
crankshaft after removing the bearing.

Remove the crankcase oil strainer from the crankcase. Remove the lube oil relief valve and the
refrigerant relief valve. Loosen all the units one by one from the
bottom end bearing nuts and remove the lower half.
Now the piston can be removed from the top along with the connecting rod, without damaging
the liner. Replace the lining along with the cylinder sleeve of all the units and put them in a tray.
You can replace the unloader lift pin and the unloader assembly. Now raise the crankshaft after
removing the bearing.
