CRITICAL INCIDENTS

• Get into teams of 6 or 7 (preferably with students you don’t

already know)
• You have 10 minutes to talk about “Critical Incidents” that
occurred when you were in a culture other than your own
(e.g. studying abroad)
• As a whole group, each team will give one example of a
Critical Incident from their team
CULTURAL ORIENTATIONS FRAMEWORK (COF)
CULTURAL ORIENTATIONS FRAMEWORK (COF)

• COF was developed by Philippe Rosinski, a Belgian

interculturalist and coach
• He draws on the work of famous interculturalists such as Hall
and Hofstede
• The questionnaire covers 17 “Orientations” and asks two
questions:
• What is your preferred orientation? (in Part One)
• What is your capacity to align your behaviours to a
particular orientation? (in Part Two)
• Once completed, you will receive your profile
• Reflect on the profile and how close it is to your “cultural
norm”
