Disclaimer
Every effort has been made to provide complete and accurate information in this manual. However, although this
manual may include a specifically identified warranty notice for the product, Fairbanks Scales makes no
representations or warranties with respect to the contents of this manual, and reserves the right to make changes to
this manual without notice when and as improvements are made.
A. Introduction:
The Short Platform Axlematic for Fairbanks' 2500-F2 indicators allows vehicles to be
weighed one axle at a time on an axle truck scale from 10 x 10 and larger. This program
allows Gross-Tare-Net weighing, Inbound/Outbound weighing, and either Manual or Auto
axle weighing. Fees may be assigned to the process and data is stored for reports and/or
output to a computer.
B. Specifications:
The Short Platform Axlematic is designed to operate on any axle scale. The program will
operate on a single load cell installed on a mechanical scale, or a full electronic scale. The
indicator must be Fairbanks' 2500-F2 with Intalogix™ Technology. The indicator comes
with standard IN/OUT operation, five (5) output ports, data storage capabilities, report
generators, and flash program capabilities. The basic setup may be Data Terminal or
Weight Only. Traffic lights are controlled by the instrument for traffic control. Axle weighing
can take place in two modes, MANUAL and AUTO.
A. Operation:
Front Panel:
0 to 9-When pressed enters numeric data such as scale number, tare, loop ID
MANUAL Mode:
AUTO Mode:
The 'INITIAL WEIGHT' is the weight that triggers the automatic sequence and
should be a value that is greater than what could cause improper operation
(people, animals and light traffic) and less than the maximum expected steering
axle of a truck i.e. 1000lbs.
The 'MINIMUM WEIGHT' should be set to a value that causes the automatic
sequence to be sustained after the steering axle is weighed and has left the scale
i.e. 500lbs.
The AXLE TIMER is used to delay switching the traffic lights to red when a truck
axle is detected. The lights are programmed to stay on for a minimum of 3 seconds
before switching back to green.
The TOTAL TIMER is started after each axle is detected and weighed. When the
timer expires, the axle measurement is stopped and the print cycle is started. It has
some of the attributes of the FINAL WEIGHT value and can be used in conjunction
with it. A print cycle is initiated when no activity is detected, for a time greater than
the 'TOTAL TIMER'.
A truck weighs INBOUND with a Loop #, weighing axles for a Gross weight. After
loading/unloading, the truck weighs OUTBOUND using the same Loop #. The axles
can be compared to the INBOUND and legal axle weights. All data can be printed
and stored.
A truck is weighed in, an axle at a time on the scale platform as a TARE. The TARE
is then printed. When the truck exits, it is axle weighed as a GROSS weight. The
TARE is entered, and the difference is a NET weight. Axle weights for determining
legal loads per axles, and the Gross-Tare-Net weights are printed on the same
ticket.
1. There are four programming menus that contain all of the parameters for the system.
a. In all menus, the UP or DOWN arrows move the cursor in the indicated direction.
b. To make an entry, place the cursor beside the item to be selected and press the
ENTER key. The operator will be prompted for the data to be entered.
c. A "key" symbol beside a menu item means the item is "locked" and can only be
accessed with a password. Enter the password via either keyboard and press
ENTER.
d. Data may be entered through the keypad.
e. When the appropriate data has been entered, press the ENTER key to record
the data into memory.
The items in the OPERATION MENU may be set or re-set at any time through the
keypad, except those items that are "locked" by a password.

NOTE: When in the REPORT GENERATOR option, pressing the END key on the keyboard
will return the display to the Configuration Menu. With the keypad, the operator will
need to scroll through all of the REPORT GENERATOR steps to return to the
Configuration Menu.
This display shows the "IN TIME" as the 1st field being considered. The "0" indicates that
this field has no priority and will not be printed. To change the priority (column location),
enter a number at the cursor or leave at "0" to not print the field. The page width, 122
(characters), and the 17 CPI (characters per inch) are automatically set when the report
fields are prioritized. To prevent "Wrap-A-Round" in the printed report, the printer must be
able to accept the page width and CPI parameters.
When a transaction record is created, there are 25 data fields created within the
record. These data fields are used when reports are printed. The operator can
select which data fields will appear in the report and the order in which they will be
printed. This is done by assigning PRIORITIES to the fields. The priority is the
number of the column in which the data will appear in the report.

then by the second. Only those records that fit all of the search fields selected
will be printed in the report.
e. When a new search filed is selected, all existing search fields should be deleted.
Deleting search fields is done by placing the cursor beside the search field and
repeatedly pressing the back arrow on the keypad.
6. DELETE TRANSACTIONS - Select this option to delete all transaction files. This is
usually done after a report has been printed.
7. TARE REPORT - This option prints a report listing all of the loop IDs and the tare
weights stored in memory.
8. INCOMPLETE REPORT - This option prints a report showing all of the incomplete
transactions stored in memory. An incomplete transaction is one with an INBOUND
weight and no OUTBOUND weight.
9. VIEW INCOMPLETE - This selection allows the operator to view each individual
incomplete transaction. The display will show the tare ID, the inbound weight, the product
ID and the time and date. Individual incomplete transactions may be deleted with this
option. This option is used to delete individual files or all incomplete transaction files.
10. VIEW TARES - This selection allows the operator to view individual tares being held in
memory. The display shows the tare ID, the tare weight, and the time and date the tare
weight was entered. Individual tares may be deleted using this option. This option is used
to delete individual files or all tare files.

When a CR (Carriage Return character (0D Hex) is received on either Com 2 or Com 3 of
the IND-R2500, it will output information based on the FROM TOP and FROM RIGHT
coordinates in the GROSS*TARE*NET Ticket Formats menu selections. All character
strings that have a non-zero value in either of the coordinates will be transmitted. The
order that the character strings appear in the data transmission follows the numbering
sequence of the FROM TOP and FROM RIGHT coordinates. An example follows this
output description.
If this type output is selected, completed transactions will be transmitted as they are
completed, providing data set is in the same. This can be useful in “catching
Transactions”.
If a character string is disabled, nothing is transmitted. To enable a character string, make either
of the FROM TOP or FROM RIGHT coordinates any value other than 0.0. The values entered in
the coordinated determine the order that the character strings are transmitted. See the following
example.
