Tourism is a major driver of economic development and growth thereby contributing to job
creation, revenue generation, and cultural exchange. In recent years, globalization has played a
significant role in transforming the tourism industry by facilitating the movement of people,
ideas, and capital across borders. India, as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, has
recognized the potential of tourism as a key contributor to its economic growth and development.
Tourism acts or functions as a positive factor to stimulate both regional and local socioeconomic
development on a macro and microeconomic scale. This has seen positive development and
increase in entrepreneurship through taxation paid which have stimulated the development of the
entire country and individual regions. Taxation make it possible for governments and relevant
authorities to make the necessary investments and promotion of tourism. This has proved to
increase the attractiveness and make it a favorite destination of the given country.

This report aims to analyze the role of globalization as a driver of social, cultural and economic
impacts of tourism in India. The report will specifically discuss how globalization has promoted
tourism in India examining the economic, social, and cultural impacts of tourism in the country.
Additionally, the report will assess how India has responded to the trend of globalization and the
critical role it plays in the success of their tourism sector in the twenty-first century.

Tourism in India has been seen positive growth steadily with time, which has seen the country
now being recognized amongst the favorite destinations of the world. Tourism is a cultural,
economic and social phenomenon which necessitates movement of the people from place to
place, country to country, either for personal, professional or business purposes outside their
usual/familiar environment. The government has recognized it`s potential as a major source of
revenue and has put in place various policies and regulations to support tourism such as the
“Hunar se rozgar” programme and Visa on arrival. Tourism in India has a rich history, with the
country being known for its cultural heritage, diverse geography, and history. The tourism
industry in India has been growing at a steady rate over the years, with the government
recognizing its potential as a major source of revenue
Tourism Supply and Demand:

The country's tourism supply includes a diverse range of destinations, including natural beauty,
historical sites, and cultural experiences. In recent years, the demand for tourism in India has
grown rapidly, with the country receiving a record number of 10.56 million foreign tourists in
