Statistical Treatment

As soon as the researchers have finished gathering the data, it will be

compiled, sorted, and organized. These data will be subjected to a statistical

treatment, the Pearson’s Correlation to create a proper interpretation. The

researchers have chosen the mentioned statistical method as the study possesses one

independent variable (Temperature) and one dependent variable (Voltage

generated). This study has initially aimed to prove relationship between the said

variables, may it be directly or inversely proportional.

Shown below is the formula of the Pearson’s Correlation:

∑(𝑥𝑖 − 𝑥̅ )(𝑦𝑖 − 𝑦̅)

𝑟=
√∑(𝑥𝑖 − 𝑥̅ )2 ∑(𝑦𝑖 − 𝑦̅)2

Figure 2.2 Pearson’s Correlation

𝑟 = correlation coefficient

𝑥𝑖 = values of the x-variable in a sample

𝑥̅ = mean of the values of the x-variable

𝑦𝑖 = values of the y-variable in a sample

𝑦̅ = mean of the values of the y-variable

Hypothesis

Based from the problem on this study, the formulated hypotheses are the

following:

Null Hypothesis

There is no significant relationship between temperature and voltage

generated in the peltier module system.

Ho : ρ = 0 (2.3)

Alternative Hypothesis

There is a significant relationship between temperature and voltage

generated in the peltier module system.

Ha : ρ ≠ 0 (2.4)
