ADJUNCTS – describe space, time, manner and domain (subject’s features)

DISJUCTS – express personal opinions

CONJUNTS – provide a logical connection between sentences (result, cause, reason, contrast etc.)

Identify each adverbial element. Write A for adjuntcs, D for disjuncts and C for conjuncts:

1. They will be coming the day after tomorrow.


2. Apparently, they moved out of the house.
3. There’s no tea – would you like some coffee instead?
4. It didn’t rain, thankfully.
5. The lecture wasn’t long – the professor spoke briefly.
6. I had been waiting for you for an hour and you didn’t come so I left.
7. Hopefully, we will solve all our problems next year.
