Copper and Copper Alloys Sectional Committee, MTD 8

FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Fourth Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft
finalized hy the Copper and Copper Alloys Sectional Committee had been approved by the Metallurgical
Engineering Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1958 and subsequently revised in 1965, 1981 and 1989. In this revision
following modifications have been made:
a) The specification has been completely modified to cover only hrass gravity die ca~tings, Lhat ii.,
requirements pertaining to ingots have hccn deleted.
b) Chemical composition has been modified.
c) Mechanical properties (Tensile strength and percentage elongation) which were oplional, have
hcen deleted.

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final
value, observed or calculated, expres~ing the result of a test or analysis, shall he rounded off in accordance
with IS 2 : 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values (redsed)'. The number of ~ignificant places
retained in the rounded off value shoukl be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
