Abstract
English has become an international language. Used when people meet each other in any international
meeting, such as conferences, state agreements, lectures, and so on. So, it becomes important for
everyone to learn English. To develop English learning strategies, appropriate steps are needed so that the
objectives of learning English can be achieved. one of the strategies is the use of English textbooks, here
the author takes the example of the textbooks used in learning English, namely "An English Textbook
'English' For The Tenth Grade in Senior High School". There are several reasons for using textbooks in
learning English: First, most of the teaching materials are in accordance with the needs of students, .
Second, they allow students to plan future learning and also review previous material or lessons. Third,
textbooks provide students with high-quality materials. Appropriate textbooks allow teachers to adapt and
modify them to meet the needs of learners and also allow natural interactions to occur. A teacher relies on
textbooks. Textbooks become an important thing in the classroom for the teaching and learning process.
