Tugas 1 Tutorial Matematika Ekonomi I

1. Given the sets 𝑆1 = {2, 4, 6}, 𝑆2 = {7, 2, 6}, 𝑆3 = {4, 2, 6}, and 𝑆4 = {2, 4}, find:
a. 𝑆1 ∪ 𝑆2
b. 𝑆1 ∪ 𝑆3
c. 𝑆2 ∩ 𝑆3
d. 𝑆2 ∩ 𝑆4
e. 𝑆4 ∩ 𝑆2 ∩ 𝑆1
f. 𝑆3 ∪ 𝑆1 ∪ 𝑆4
2. Given 𝐴 = {9, 2, 3}, 𝐵 = {3, 5, 6,7}, and 𝐶 = {4,8,1}, verify the distributive law
3. Write the following in set notation:
a. The set of all real numbers greater than 25
b. The set of all real numbers greater than 10 but less than 30
c. The set of all real numbers less than 7
4. X Company produces a product with variable cost per unit is $10 and fixed cost is $50,000.
Each unit produced by X Company has a selling price of $25. Determine the number of
units that must be sold to earn a profit of $400,000.
5. An agribusiness company must decide whether to rent or buy a truck. If they were to rent
the truck, the rental fee would be $400 per month (on a yearly basis), and the daily cost
(gas, oil, and driver) would be $200 for each day the truck is used. If they were to buy it,
their fixed annual cost would be $30,000, and daily operating and maintenance costs would
be $250 for each day the truck is used. What is the least number of days each year that the
builder would have to use the truck to justify renting it rather than buying it?
6. The variable costs incurred by a fisherman depends on the level of fishing activity and the
fixed cost is normally equal to the fisherman’s capital value. The fixed monthly expense of
a fisherman is $7,700. The amount he spends on fuel is a variable cost, which is $400 per
ton of fish caught. The fish sells for $1,500 per ton. What is the minimum ton of fish the
fisherman needs to catch to avoid incurring a loss?
