THE IMPACT OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE ON EMPLOYEE WELLBEING

The relevance of the topic

Work-life balance is the tendency to become fully active and engage in the performance of
every role in one’s whole role system to approach each role with an attitude of complete
attentiveness and care. (Fisher, 2019)work-life balance involves two dimensions namely
engagement in work and non-work life. Having a positive work-life balance can help
employees carve out enough time for both work and the many other facets of their lives. But
when running a business, although not intentional, it’s understandably easy to focus on the
work domain of employees’ lives, forgetting they have a whole other life outside of the
office. It has a huge importance in life of any worker. It affects an employee job performance,
job satisfaction organizational commitment, career advancement, and success all rise with
work-life balance. (Nazlı YÜCEOL, n.d.)It also gives employee greater levels of life
satisfaction, marriage happiness, family performance, family happiness, parental happiness,
and leisure satisfaction. Additionally, studies have shown that work-life balance lowers the
likelihood of job failure, job burnout and alienation, absenteeism, and intention to switch
jobs. Most research on the relationship between work and life focus on work-life balance and
organizational policy, organizational culture, HR management, job commitment, gender
equality, family life, and many other topics.
This paper will emphasis on the importance of the balance between working and non-
working life by explaining different tendencies and differences. It will explain the hurdles
which can affect the balance between work and life by going to detail analysis. This study
focuses on work and family role interference, measured by work-family conflict and family-
work conflict.
