Type of reproduction

Brittle stars reproduce asexually through a process called fission. Some brittle stars
also reproduce sexually.
When does it reproduce sexually and asexually
When brittle stars are reproducing asexuallythrough a process called fission. Fission
occurs when the star splits its central disk in half, which then grows into two brittle stars.
BRITTLE STAR
Brittle stars reproduce sexually, by releasing eggs and sperm into the water.
Mating behaviors
When brttle stars are mating, eggs from females and spermatozoa from males are
shed into the water where the eggs are fertilized.
Clones or
Different
Brittle stars offspring are clones of their parent due to
the process of regrowing a limb called regeneration. Many sea stars like the brittle star can
regrow an entire body from a single chopped off arm, allowing their offspring to be
genetically identical. They can also be genetically unique when their parent use sexual
reproduction.
Gestation period
Regeneration can take months for brittle stars to produce new offspring.
When they reproduce sexually the spawning period normally lasts one or
two months.

How much offspring is produced

In sexual reproduction up to several million eggs are produced however not all eggs survive and die off.
When a brittle star is producing asexually it takes several months for the process to be finished.
