Prepared by
Aadco testing and research lab. Pvt.

Area.
Ghaziabad
Reference Code: IS:2911

Apparatus required:

1.Dial gauges

Calibrated dial gauges of least count 0.01 mm of standard brand will be

placed behind the wall to be tested for deflection test. Three dial gauges were placed.

2. Hydraulic Jack: for providing load to the wall.

Load calculation

The load calculation will be done based on the designed load as declared by the client

multiplied by factor of safety.

Procedure

i. The dial gauges are placed behind the wall at the designated place.
Make sure no vibration disturbs the reading.

ii. The initial readings are noted down.

iii. The load in the form of hydraulic jack is applied on the other side of wall gradually

by increasing from 20% of safe load of to 100%

iv. At each load increment the deflection is noted and keep the load for at least half an

hour till dial gauge reading becomes constant.

v.The maximum load will be kept constant for at least 24 hours and then reduced to

80%,60%, 40% ,20 and 0% of the design load respectively.

vi. At zero load the dial gauges reading are noted and final recovery is calculated.
