This is relative to Department of Education Order (DO) No. 34, s. 2022, where it fs stated that School Year 2022-2023 shall consist of 203 school days and this number of school days shall solely be dedicated to academics/eurricular activities and related co-curricular activitics. The conduct of extra-curricular activities shall be strictly prohibited. 2. The following are defined in the mentioned DO and taken from DO 21, s. 2019 to avoid confusion: a. Curricular Activities are opportunities and experiences undertaken by the learners in the classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and homes as well as school-based and out-of-school activities conducted to ensure the Jearners’ acquisition of the K to 12 learning standards and the 21* -century skills; b. Co-curricular Activities are authorized, voluntary, and non-graded engagements, whether on or off-campus, that reinforce the development of 21=-century skills beyond the scheduled contact time between teachers and learners. The activities must be anchored on the curriculum’s content and performance standards. They are considered an extension of formal learning experiences and are provided to tap into and enrich the varied intelligences and skills of learners; and c. Extracurricular activities arc also voluntary, mon-graded learner ‘engagements that are not anchored on the content and standards in the curriculum and are offered /coordinated by the school to promote the learner's holistic developmen 3. The cleventh week of cach quarter may be used for the conduct of co-curricular activities. 5. The following are Ute co-curricular activities that ean be conducted: Scouting Press Conference ‘Science and Technology Fair Festival of Talents. Sports Culminating Activities in Different Learning Areas Activities relative to Supreme Pupil Government (DO 45, s. 2007, re: Institutionalization of the Supreme Pupil Government in All Elementary ‘Schools Nationwide) h. Activities relative to Supreme Student Government (DO 49, s. 2011, re: Mandated Programs, Projects, and Activities of the Supreme Student Government) wapange 6. School Heads shall prepare a school calendar to reflect the co-curricular activities for the entire school year for the approval of the concerned Schools Division Superintendent. 7. Other co-activities that are not cited in Item No. 5 shall be allowed provided that: 4. there are learning standards (content standard, performance standard, and Jearning competencies) where the activities ean be anchored; the activities shall be held outside class hours, on weekends, or during schoo! breaks; © the learning” standards where the activities can be anchored are checked/validated and recommended for approval by the Division Leaming Area Education Program Supervisors and approved by the Schools Division Superintendents; and 4. the approved activities are included in the schoo! calendar prepared by the school head in Item No. 6. 8. Beauty contests and other related activities that are conducted for the sake of fundraising are strictly prohibited. 9, Educational Field Trips/Tours shall be allowed provided that the organizer{s) shall strictly adhere to the DO 66, s. 2017, titled “Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Off Campus Activities. 10. Service credits for teaching personnel and Compensatory Time-Off (CTO) for non-teaching personnel will be granted in lieu of the activity/worksbop days that will fall on either holidays or weekends per DO 53, s. 2003, titled Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation Service Credits to Teachers, and Civil Service Commission: Department of Budget and Management Joint Circular No, 2, s. 2015, se: Policies and Guidelines on Overtime Services and Overtime Pay for Government *. In addition, pursuant to Depkd Memorandum No. 065, s. 2021, one workday of vacation service credit shall be granted per accumulated eight hours of service rendered. Moreover, under this mentioned Memorandum, the 15- day limitation under DO 53, s. 2003, is suspended to allow teachers to claim service credits exceeding 15 days. 11. The provisions of this Memorandum shall be in effect immediately and shall remain in force until revoked or rescinded, 12.
