Lesson 4 MILESTONES IN MEDIA EVOLUTION Activity #4: Transition of Media (45 pts.)

Instructions:

1. In this activity, you need to provide one old gadget, appliance, or technology and compare it to the
latest version or new model. These can be obsolete television, the radio, the washing machine, laptop,
cellphone, tablet, the camera, and any other electrical or mechanical equipment you commonly use at
home, in the office, while studying, or for entertainment purposes.

2. Use your phone to take pictures of them and provide one photo of the old version and one photo of
the latest version to see the physical comparison of the two. Specify the specifications of these
technologies; you may search its details online. You can grab a photo online if the gadget, appliance, or
technology you have chosen is not available or accessible.

3. Please note that a gadget, appliance, or technology is considered obsolete if it’s not functioning well
and you’re not using it anymore because of an improved latest version.

4. In addition, answer the questions provided below. Encode your activity using Microsoft Word and
submit a PDF file with a file name: last name-activity#4, example: cotejar-activity#4. You’re given rubrics

OLDEST IPHONE (Iphone 1st gen):

CURRENT IPHONE (Iphone 14):

Not only do you get a unique camera cutout on the display, but you
also get a better screen overall with support for a higher refresh rate
and higher peak brightness. You also get a better chipset inside the
Pro models instead of just a storage bump on the top end.
Questions:

1. How do these media evolution and innovations affect your day-to-day living? Is it on the positive
or negative side? Why or why not?

Yes it does affect not only my life, but everybody’s lives. There are positive impacts and negative
ones. Positive impact is the convenience of the newest iphone, how quicker it is than the very
first model of iphone. Negative impact is that it makes people lazier and lazier.

2. Regarding accessing information and news, would you prefer traditional or new media? Why?

New Media, because it is a lot more faster than the old media. Not only is it faster, but also
more convenient and simpler to understand than old ones.

3. If given a chance to improve or innovate an existing technology, what would it be? Why?

Probably have youtube music play on the background..
