1.ELVIS PRESLEY
American singer and actor. “King of Rock and Roll”
and one of the rock music’s dominant performers from the
mid- 1950s until his death. He brought three different
sounds together the blues, gospel, and the country in a
united front to sweep the nation. He did not only much for
music world, however, he also changed the world of
dance.

2. FRANCISCA REYES AQUINO

In 1954, Reyes was awarded the Republic Award of


merit for her “outstanding contribution toward the
advancement of Filipino Culture” and was named a
National Artist of dance in 1973.

3. MICHAEL JACKSON

With just a few guides backward, Jackson made dance


history when he introduced the moonwalk in 1983.

4. PAULA ABDUL

Abdul began her career as a cheerleader for the Los


Angeles Lakers. She was the head choreographer for the
squad, which put her career on the fast track.

5. JABBAWOCKEEZ

Is an internationally known dance team who has


amassed large success with its Las Vegas resident shows.
In 2012, the group was honored for its contribution to the
dance community with Hip hop Award.

6. SHAKIRA

She created the Pies Descalzos Foundation to help


children in her native Columbia receive a quality
education. She is also a UNICEF good will Ambassador,
and was honored by the United Nations International
Labor Organization for her philanthropic efforts in 2010.

7. G-FORCE

Ballet- Dancers, usually accompanied by music, tell a story or express a mood through their

Tango- A partner dance that originated in the 1880s along the River Plata, the natural border
between Argentina and Uruguay, and soon spread to the rest of the world. Early this style
was known as tango criollo (Creole tango).
Belly- The term "belly dance" is a westernized name that originally referred to traditional
Middle Eastern dancing. The earliest forms of belly dance were the Egyptian
ghawazi dance during the 19th century, and Raqs Sharqi, an Arabic dance of the 20th
century.
Cha-Cha- A fast ballroom dance of Latin American origin, similar to the mambo, that
follows a rhythmic pattern based upon a quick three-step movement.
Foxtrot- A smooth, progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing
movements across the dance floor. It is danced to big band (usually vocal) music. The dance
is similar in its look to waltz, although the rhythm is in a 4/4.
Kolo-a central European folk dance in which dancers form a circle and progress slowly to
right or left while one or more dancers perform elaborate steps in the center
