    How to enroll in the National Health Service

    Dear student,
    if the non-EU country you come from has not entered into agreements with Italy for
    health care, you can resort to private insurance or voluntarily register in the National
    Health Service.
    Voluntary registration with the National Health Service entitles you to healthcare
    assistance in Italy, it’s valid for the calendar year (from January 1st to December 31st)
    and cannot be divided.
    Registration involves the payment of an annual lump sum contribution. If you have
    dependent family members, the contribution is calculated on the basis of income.

    If you intend to enroll in the National Health Service, you must deliver the following
    documents to the health registry office at Palazzo Bo':

    1. Original residence permit or receipt of the postal kit with entry visa in the passport
    2. Copy of passport
    3. Certificate of enrollment in University / professional training course
    4. RESIDENT STUDENTS: certificate of residence or self-certification of residence
    5. NON-RESIDENT STUDENTS: copy of the rental or residence contract in student
    residences
    6. STUDENTS WITHOUT DEPENDENT FAMILY MEMBERS: Receipt of payment of 149.77 euros
    made to current account no. 343301 made out to POSTE ITALIANE S.P.A. C.S.S.N.
    REGIONE DEL VENETO. In the reason for payment, indicate your name and surname and
    reference year, specifying: "Iscrizione volontaria SSN in Regione Veneto”
    7. STUDENTS WITH DEPENDENT FAMILY MEMBERS: In this case the contribution will be
    calculated as a percentage of income according to the provisions of the Ministerial
    Decree 8 October 1986 (contact the health registry office to find out the exact
    percentage or write an email to uniulss@aulss6.veneto.it). The contribution allows the
    dependent family member to have health care.
