Measurement is a comparison between an unknown quantity with a standard
quantity of the same kind.

12/1/2022 17
Uncertainty is an estimate of how
confident you are in a measurement.
The more confident you are, the smaller
the uncertainty.

Significant figures are the reliable
digits in a measurement.
Scientific notation is a way of
expressing numbers that are too large or
too small to be conveniently written in
decimal form.
It may be referred to as scientific form
or standard index form, or standard
form.

Accuracy is how close measurements are to the real value.
Precision is how close measurements are to each other, when taken in the same
way.

Acceleration is the rate at which an object’s velocity changes.

Average Acceleration is the change in an object’s velocity during some

measurable time interval divided by that time interval.

In short it can be written as the ratio of change in velocity to the time

interval taken to change it.

It is denoted by ‘ഥ
𝒂’. A bar over a denotes ‘average’.

The unit of acceleration is m/s2.
