Video Clip Scenario No.2
Projects are subsets of workplaces and since project, for the most part, an activity that involves working very closely with others, the
impact of a bully in a workplace is potentially harmful to project success. It poses an ethical and leadership dilemma. Sadly, the rates
of workplace bullying across the globe, despite efforts to eliminate it, are increasingly dramatically.
Clip #2 [Link]
1. Is the action illegal? Who and how are stakeholders hurt or adversely affected?
Bullying your fellow co-workers is not exactly illegal, but it can be considered as an act of disrespect which may offend the person and
cause consequences such as the person gaining low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. This can cause the victim to overthink, become
distracted and nervous whenever they are around their coworkers which can affect their work performance.

2. Based from the situation, do you see the co-workers’ action as acceptable or unacceptable in terms of setting a strong
ethical tone for the company? Defend your answer.
The co-workers’ actions are unacceptable because they have no right to pick on one another just because one of them made a mistake
which is quite petty. Employees should learn to build a mutual respect for one another and correct each other’s mistakes instead. It
should be taken into account that people are not perfect and that they are prone to making mistakes which they can learn from.

3. If you are the project manager, what important decisions you can take to confront bullying at the workplace and protect the
team members?
I would call the team members for a meeting, disclose the bullying issue and lecture them that as a team we need to correct one another
so that we would learn from it. Making mistakes is normal and should not be used as an excuse to make fun of one another and that
there should be a mutual respect for one another.
