ACTIVITY DESIGN
I. Basic Information
II. Rationale
First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness and injury. Certain self-limiting illnesses and
minor injuries may not require further medical care past the first aid intervention. It generally
consists of a series of simple and in some cases, potentially lifesaving techniques that an individual
can be trained to perform with minimal equipment. Basic principles, such as knowing to use an
adhesive bondage or applying pressure on bleeding wound, are often acquired passively through life
experiences. However, to provide effective and lifesaving first aid interventions require instruction
and practical training. The first aiders are also likely to be trained in dealing with injuries such as
cuts, grazes, or bone fractures.
At present, the Philippine Red Cross provides six (6) major services: Blood Services, Disaster
Management, Safety Services, Community Health and Nursing, Social Services and Red Cross Youth.
All of them embody the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent
Movement – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and
universality. These values guide and inspire all Red Cross staff and volunteers to whom being a Red
Cross is more than just a philosophy but a way of life.
III. Objectives
1. Inculcation of humanitarian values – the organization believes that the early development of
humanitarian leaders lies in the inculcation of humanitarian values among its youth members.
2. Instill the practice of healthy lifestyle – build a community through youth participation and
involvement in health promotion and education towards a stronger nation.
3. Enhance youth leadership skills through service delivery – to be active in community
development by leading the delivery of Red Cross services in their capacity as volunteer.
Total ₱ 2,200.00
VI. Methodology
The First Aid Training will be conducted among interested students who want to be a member of
Red Cross Youth Council for them to learn skills on how to attend emergency cases like sudden illness
