Boats & Tides

Important information

We organise all of our boat and land transfers based around the tide. There are times throughout the day where we
cannot move the boat or bring the boat in to the beach as it is low tide. This changes every single day which means
our boat and shuttle times change daily as well.

Depending on the tide, the options are:

1. Landing the boat directly on our beach:

This is the preferred way to reach Rimba. You can get straight off the boat and on to the beach at the resort which
means you are no more than 5 minutes from your chalet.

2. Landing the boat at the rocks:

If the sea conditions allow, at low tide we can land the boat at the rocks. Our guests will then need to walk from the
end of the rocks back to Rimba Resort’s beach. This takes around 20 minutes and has a difficulty level of roughly 3.5
out of 10.

3. Landing the boat at Coconut Village:

This is the “worst case scenario” – when the sea conditions are too rough and the tide is out, we can only land the
boat at Coconut Village Resort which is on the other side of the island. The walk back to Rimba is a mix of a jungle
trek and a beach walk and takes around 45 minutes to an hour. The difficulty level is roughly 5 out of 10 mainly
because the jungle is quite up and down and a little bit of climbing is involved.

IN ALL CASES

We will inform you in advance where each boat will be dropping you off. We will not know if it is at the rocks or
coconut village until the day itself as this will completely depend on the sea conditions when you arrive. However,
we will know if the tide is in or out and if the boat can land at the beach, we will let you know if it is during the
reservation process.

When travelling to Rimba please always wear appropriate shoes (no high heels!) and bring backpacks rather than
suitcases when possible. Our staff will always meet you at the boat to carry your luggage and bring you back to the
resort in any of the above situations.

Please always be prepared for the rocks or coconut village – if you get stuck in traffic or are delayed for any
other reason, you may not “make the tide.”

Please let us know in advance if you have any questions.
Thank you,
