Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 10 English

The teacher plays a short video clip of the story “The Moth and The Lamp.”
I. Activities

A. Unlocking Difficulties

The teacher gives a set of sentences and then she lets the students determine the meaning of
the underlined words through context clues.

Directions: Identify the meaning of the underlined word using context clues. Choose the
letter of the best meaning of the underlined word. After getting the meaning of the word in
each item, use it in meaningful sentence.

III. Abstraction

Daedalus is a brilliant inventor—the Thomas Edison of his day. Unfortunately, he angers


King Minos, the ruler of the island Crete, and he has to hightail it out of there. Desperate to
flee the island, Daedalus uses wax to build some wings for himself and his son Icarus.

Discussion

The teacher presents a short video clip about cause and effect relationship.

IV. Application

The teacher already posted the pictures around the room. She doesn’t reveal the task yet but
the pictures serve as the hints of tasks. The students are free to choose as to what picture
attracts them the most. After choosing one, the teacher gives the task.

V. Assessment

Directions: Read the statements inside the chart. Identify the effect of each cause. Choose
your answer from the box.
