Capital punishment: Essay

I believe that the issue of passing a law of allowing the most severe
punishment for a criminal (capital punishment, execution) is a very difficult topic
for discussion. Even I have arguments for adoption and vice versa in the same
time.
Firstly, capital punishment can reduce the number of crimes committed all
over Ukraine, since statistics shows that people who are have already been into
prison or are more likely to commit crimes.
Secondly, capital punishment is probably one of the best motivations for a
criminal not to commit a crime. Who want to die, yes? But, in reality, there is
another side: in despair, the criminal commits another crime (more serious),
because the euphoric condition enters. Simply, he things “Oh, I will be given a
deadly sentence on one hundred percent– nothing stops me to make another one
before I die!”
On the other hand, there are a number of problems in the country that will
not allow to take capital punishment and use it to the full might. Let's start with the
fact that we have very corrupt power and weak judges - because of this, this form
of punishment will be used incorrectly and the innocent will be killed.
Also, capital punishment can be used in the interests of politicians, officials,
civil servants, removing those who do not like them. You don’t like authorities –
they will execute you.
Finally, people are simply not ready to return capital punishment after only a
few decades, when the Soviet authorities used this practice for criminals and
showed what how extent it can be used for mercenary purposes.
Lastly, I would like to make a conclusion. I think that capital punishment in
Ukraine would be very bad for innocent people and even criminals. When one
decides who will and who will die, where are guaranties that he is right? And what
will be the cause? The end of life of criminal or the victim of hard and incorrect
law?
