HISTORY
The game was invented in England in the early days of the
20th century and was originally called Ping-Pong, a trade
name. The name table tennis was adopted in 1921–22 when
the old Ping-Pong Association formed in 1902 was revived.
Although both a "Table Tennis Association" and a "Ping Pong
Association" existed by 1910 The International Table Tennis
Federation (ITTF) followed in 1926.  Table tennis was introduced
as an Olympic sport at the Olympics in 1988.
How to play
Two players on a table divided in two parts stand
opposite to each other. Small rackets (bats, or
paddles) held by the players is used to hit a
lightweight hollow ball which is propelled back
and forth across the net.
This continues until one of the player is unable to
hit the ball an looses.
Rules and Regulations
o After the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, the ITTF
instituted several rule changes
o The older 38 mm (1.50 in) balls were officially
replaced by 40 mm (1.57 in) balls in October
2000.
o The ITTF changed from a 21-point to an 11-point
scoring system
o  There are also rules regarding what type of
paddles are legal.
o Alternate serves every two points
o Toss the ball straight up when serving
o If your hit bounces back over the net by itself it is
your point

VARIENTS
Round the World (also called Round Robin or Round the
Table) table tennis is an informal party-type variation in which
players line up on either side of the table. When a player hits the
ball he sets the paddle down, and the player behind him picks it
up to receive the return. When a player sets down his paddle, he
moves to the line at the opposing side of the table. Players are
eliminated as they lose a point. When only 2 players remain, a
player hits the ball, sets his paddle down, spins and then
retrieves his paddle to make the return.
"Table Tennis is like an atom. To the
ignorant it is merely microscopic and
insignificant in existance, but to the
dedicated, it is intricate in design and the
building block to everything we know."
- Matt Hetherington
