What are the university entry requirements in America?

Every university and college in the United States has student entry requirements -
minimum score requirements and standardized tests, e.g. TOEFL, ACT, SAT, etc. Even
within the same university, there can be different admission requirements, depending on
the major you choose to study. Discussing six factors in American college admissions can
be considered a necessary condition for a new student.
The first factor, the school wants to know what and how the students have studied during
the four years of high school through each school's transcripts and scoring guidelines.
Because it is a ‘non-focused’ education, students are free to choose a class to enroll in.
Looking at the transcripts, the university will immediately know if the student is
deviating, what is the main area of interest and how much is the relative result of the
academic merit.
Second, the school requires three letters of recommendation from teachers who have
directly taught students. The objective assessment of teachers will provide the school
with important information about a student’s academic ability based on the following
criteria: compared with peers in a similar environment, students have how to use learning
opportunities, what is the difference in learning power, strengths and weaknesses in
problem-solving, interactions with classmates… The school accepts students to choose
only the subjects they study best or have the best contact to get a good letter of
recommendation. But also know how to evaluate how students distribute letters of
recommendation. The content of the recommendation letter is sealed by the teacher and
sent directly to the university. So most students taking the college entrance exam in the
US don't know the content.
As a third element, the school allows students to have five minutes of self-introduction to
fully explain their wishes. That’s the essay! ‘Van is a person’, so the school encourages
students to express their ideas coherently in a text. In addition, it is necessary to be able
to effectively convey information encapsulated between 800 and 1,200 words. The essay
is prepared and sent with the common application form.
The fourth element, Extracurricular activities, and community activities. Universities do
not want to recruit and train a bookworm, just focusing on studying without paying
attention to social issues, culture, sports...
The fifth element, What and how the Student must be able to present and contribute to
and enrich the college community in which they are about to join. This can be expressed
in the form of another essay or by other means, as long as it is persuasive. The college
admissions school in the US will select students based on their origin, ethnicity, religion,
and region so that the school grounds can be ‘bloomed with flowers’. Students can
interact and learn to interact with each other equally.
Finally, schools require students to submit SAT scores and ‘lose’ a sentence that this
score is for reference only. If it’s on par with the class scoreboard, it doesn’t matter, but if
it’s too weak, then it will be counted!
That is all a student needs if he wants to get into any university in the US. But
importantly, it’s just the first step to entering a new door that opens up a lot of interesting
things about university life in the US.
What are Americans’ attitudes toward education in colleges and universities?
At a time when Americans are worried about the direction of the nation’s leadership,
doubt both the administration and Congress, and express little faith in public schools,
their faith in education is overwhelming. American university is still standing strangely!
In a nationwide survey on higher education conducted by Chronicle magazine, it can be
seen that Americans are more satisfied with the quality of education at universities. In
particular, the American public's trust in private universities far exceeds that in the US
military. Trust in two- and four-year colleges ranks lower, just below the local police
force.
However, Americans do not like some activities of universities. They question the
prerogatives of principals. Survey results on universities show a high degree of
skepticism about admissions policies, the permanent appointment of professors,
movement activities, and entrenched intolerance. change in the training organization.
Two-thirds of survey respondents think that universities place too much emphasis on
sports, and should not guarantee lifelong employment for experienced professors. More
than 60% said that universities should not accept minority students with below-average
scores and lower test results than their classmates.
They also urge universities to focus less on the task of economic research and
development, which presidents often stress, and should focus on more fundamental
issues: general education, and teacher education. adult education, leadership, and
responsibility issues, teacher training issues. In their opinion, the most important mission
of the university is to prepare students for careers.
The most prominent criticism in the survey involved perceptions of universities playing
political games and unfairly favoring certain groups of students. More than half of
Americans think American university professors are fairly liberal in their political views.
When asked how their beliefs compare to university lecturers, half of the survey
respondents said that professors are fairly liberal. (about 37% of survey respondents
consider themselves conservative). Some universities are so politically biased that
students don't get a chance to hear the opposing side, and this makes education weak.
College education can be seen as the closest step to their children's future careers,
something that American parents have always wondered about. Of course, universities
can’t please everything, but they are also trying to improve to create a good environment,
training American students in the best way to help them contribute to society. ..
