1. Explain why Emily had to sleep with the decomposed body of Homer Barron

for a number of years?

Emily had to sleep with the decomposed body of Hommer Barron since

Emily doesn’t want to experience again the feeling of being alone, the

feeling that she had experience when her Father died. Emily had to

poison Hommer for the reason that she doesn’t want Hommer to leave

her side and so the idea of poisoning him is something would make him

stay. Emily killed Homer for the reason that she can’t live without him,

but he won’t stay voluntarily. Adopting the aforementioned adage that,

“if I can’t have him, nobody can,” Emily has ensured that she, and she

alone, will possess Homer. She lies with his corpse because it

represents the husband or lover she never had but always craved.
