Altas Ringlift 9.0T Edge Lifter Information and Design Manual

2
1.0 Introduction
All ALTAS RINGLIFT 9T Edge Lifters are manufactured from high tensile
steel plate (350 Grade) and are hot dip galvanised for protection from
exposure. ALTAS LIFTFIX RINGLIFT 9T Edge Lifters are capable of
being used for transporting concrete elements when they are installed
correctly according to this technical manual.

Made and Tested to AS3850.1:2015

This manual has been revised in accordance with the requirements of AS3850.1:2015

Void to be coated in vaseline prior to use Screw or double side tape to formwork
and locked using fixing plate to eliminate
concrete entry.

3
5.0 Installation
Failure to install the units correctly may result in non-performance. Please read the following information and if in doubt contact
the manufacturer or other technical representatives.

The important factors when using the ALTAS RINGLIFT 9T Edge Lifter are:
• Correct Edge Distance • Correct Shear Bar
• Correct Minimum spacing • It is critical that the ALTAS RINGLIFT 9T Edge Lifters,
are located to balance the centre of gravity of the
• Correct Hanger Bar
panel.

5.1 Edge Distances

Minimum Edge Distance: 750 mm

5.2 Minimum Spacing

Minimum spacing to be 1500 mm

5.3 Hanger Bar

LIFTFIX Hairpin Anchors will develop their own tensile pullout capacity via their shape and configuration. A Shear cone is
developed as seen is the diagram.

The pullout capacity of the Shear Cone is also a function of the concrete strength at lifting.

However, this shear cone can be increased by the use of tensile reinforcement through the lifting aperture.

5.4 Shear Bar Reinforcement Detail
All ALTAS RINGLIFT edge lifters, must be fitted with a shear bar in order to avoid pull out of the anchor from the concrete when
used for edge lifting applications.

6.0 Clutch Hardware

6.1 9.0T Altas Ringlift Clutch

The Atlas Ringlift Clutches are compliant with AS 3850.1:2015. Before use the clutch
must be tested to 2 times its WLL, and clutches supplied have a certificate covering
this (ie 18 Ton).

However, after a period of time, the clutch may be subject to wear, misuse, overloading
and many other factors that may affect a Ring Clutch’s safe working load.

The users must establish a program for inspection of their Ring Clutches based on
their frequency of use. Inspections should consist of the following:
• Determine the general overall condition and wear.
• Make certain the bail can rotate freely in all directions.
• If evidence of heat application is found, the clutch must be destroyed.
• Check for bent or twisted bales.
• Check for worn or bent curved bolt.
• Check for worn or deformed main clutch body.
• Check for enlarged engagement slot.
During inspection of the clutch body, if the engagement slot is found to exceed
dimension W, remove the
Clutch Rating W
ring clutch from se rvice and (mm)
destroy it. 9.0T 23.3

Local state governments have

different frequency periods
that your clutch needs to be independently tested but AS350.1:2015 at Clause 2.6
requires no more than 12 months between testing. At this time a proof test of 1.2
Clutches must be regularly times its WLL is required (ie 10.8 Ton).
tested to AS3850.1:2015

6.2 Clutch Installation

1. Strip Formwork 2. Remove Void Former

3. Align the clutch head 4. Rotate the Locking Arm
