Scarlett Opinion Essay 21/3/2023

In my opinion, the majority of the population in the world cannot afford a sustainable
future, which leads to a majority of families in the world not having enough essentials to live
through the day and people not having a home to stay in. In this essay, I'll express my
opinion about a sustainable future.

To afford a sustainable future, we need to spend lots of money to buy some of the newest
technologies that can protect the environment. For example, electric cars, mainly Teslas,
cost about 200,000 USD; they protect the environment but are too expensive for most
people in the world, whereas fuel cars, such as Vios, which cost around $40,000 US, damage
the environment but are much cheaper for the citizens who cannot afford a sustainable
future.

Electric cars are way more expensive, but in my opinion, the technology nowadays will not
have developed to a whole new level where electric cars can be affordable for everyone like
fuel cars before they need to lower their prices to where citizens can afford them. Aside
from that, electric cars waste a lot of time getting charged after about 1-2 hours, although it
just takes around 4-5 minutes for fuel to get full after going to the gas station. On the other
hand, in my opinion, a normal Tesla takes an hour to be charged.

Trash can also be a huge problem for the government, with tons of trash and waste being
thrown away every day due to urbanization and consumption. Therefore, a healthy future
for everyone could affect the government's efforts to ensure a sustainable and healthy
future for its citizens. The government should have issued guidelines for reducing consumer
waste by repairing rather than replacing items, avoiding anything made of plastic, and so on.
But the government chose not to, and the pressure from a sustainable future will lead the
government to have no choice but to raise taxes, which is not a good idea in poor countries.

At last, I think that to afford a sustainable future, the citizens and everyone in the world
should cooperate, work together, and protect the planet. Everyone should follow the rules
that the government set out and avoid any things that make the environment dirty.
