3. Chalk Mosque Silhouette K WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Black card stock or construction paper Chalk Mosque silhouette (We’ve created one for you or feel free to draw your own) —> Mosque Silhouette Printable Scissors Masking tape STEPS: Cut out mosque silhouette Roll a few pieces of masking tape and use them to attach the mosque cut out onto the black paper Use the chalk to color the exposed black paper Once done, remove the silhouette to reveal the mosque 4.Paper Lanterns . WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Colored card stock or construction paper Scissors Glue Washi Tape Tassels (optionol) Markers STEPS: Fold rectangular piece of card stock lengthways in half Cut slits across the length of the card. Leave about an inch from the top and the bottom Unfold the card and glue the two ends together forming a circular lantern shape Cut a thin strip of card to use as the lantern handle and stick on Decorate with washi tape and markers. Attach tassels for added decoration 5.Star Crayons . WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Crayons Silicone star shape mould STEPS: Peel paper off crayons (a great way to repurpose old/broken crayons) Break up the crayons into small pieces so they can fit into the moulds Fill mould with crayon pieces Bake at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes or until crayons have melted. Allow to cool before removing from mould and using. 6. Star Ornaments WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Popsicle sticks (5 per star) Glue gun (provides the strongest hold) Sequins Glue STEPS: Form a star shape with the popsicle sticks and attach sticks together using a glue gun Decorate with sequins or other decoration of choice Attach a piece of string if you wish to hang up as decoration 7. DIY Tasbih WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Wooden beads (use different shapes and sizes for added effect) String Tassels STEPS: Cut string to desired length Bead on 33 beads, adding a different bead after every 10 beads Tie string once all beads have been added. Ensure the beads are not too taught so they can move a little on the string Add a tassel for added decoration. 8. DIY Moon and Star Gift Wrap WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Kraft Paper Roll Card Stock Scissor/x-acto knife Paint and paint brush STEPS: Draw a moon and star onto card stock and cut out. This will form a stencil Paint the stencil onto your Kraft paper roll A fun activity which can add that personal touch when gifting this Ramadan/Eid 9. Straw Mosque Craft WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Disposable straws (paper or plastic) Scissors and Glue Craft paper STEPS: Stick straws onto paper lengthwise, stacking them to form a rectangular shape Cut straws into smaller, equal sized pieces and stick vertically to form the minarets Draw and cut out a dome and door shape from craft paper and stick on to complete mosque design 12. 14. Star Shaped Dua Catchers WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Star shaped paper plates (or use a circular paper plate and cute out a star shape in the center) String Beads Feathers Scissors Hole punch STEPS: Cut out the center of the paper plate leaving a thick boarder (~1 inch) Punch holes all around the inside edge of the plate Use string to form a lattice, weaving the thread between the different holes Attach 3 strings from the bottom of the plate and add beads and feathers. Attach a string at the top and hang up in your child’s room 15. Moon Phase Canvas Bag WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Plain canvas bag Paint Pencil and circular object STEPS: Draw a moon phase design onto the canvas bag Paint the design in your desired colors 16. Allah/Muhammad (PBUH) Canvas Painting WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Canvas, paper or card stock Masking tape Paint STEPS: Using the masking tape, create the pattern for Allah and/or Muhammad on your canvas or paper Paint the entire canvas/paper in your desired color Once completely dry, remove the masking tape to reveal the design 17. DIY Mosque Puzzle WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Pre-cut plain puzzle board. (You can also create your own puzzle from card stock which you draw on and cut up into puzzle pieces) Markers/Crayons STEPS: Draw a mosque design onto the puzzle board Allow your child to color and enjoy! Works great as an activity for a group of children 18. Foam Stamps WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Thick Foam sheets (often found in packaging) Scissors Pencil Paint Paper STEPS: Draw shapes onto foam sheets (I drew a dome, minaret, arched door, star and moon) Cut out shapes from foam sheet Apply paint onto shapes and stamp away. The foam stamps can be washed down and reused 19. Star Mosaic Wall Hanging WHAT YOU WILL NEED: White card stock (paper will work too but won’t be as durable) Colored paper, craft paper or tissue paper cut into small squares A square object to use as a stencil when forming the star shape. Alternatively we have a print out you could use, linked below. Star Printable Scissors and Glue Stick String 2-3 straws or beads STEPS: Draw around the square object onto the white card stock. Then rotate 135 degrees and repeat. This will form the 8 pronged star. (Alternatively, use the print out linked above) Stick the square pieces of paper inside the star to create a mosaic. Cut up some straws and thread onto a piece of string Form two holes at the top of the paper and attach the beaded string to form a wall hanging 20. Ramadan Kareem Wall Hanging WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 2 x card stock in different colors Scissors Pencil/Markers Star stickers STEPS: Draw mosque silhouette along the width of one piece of card stock at about the middle of the page. These will form the pages of the book Tape together the squares to form the book. Using tape form a binding on the left side Using felt/paper or card stock, cut shapes representing the 5 senses. Stick shapes and describe the senses on each page 23. Quran Corner Bookmarks WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Square paper Decorative Paper/markers to add details STEPS: Here is a basic tutorial for how to make the base of your bookmark Cut out shapes to decorate (eg. star and moon, mosque) or decorate using markers and stickers. 24. Moon and Star Mini Pillows/ Key Chains WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Felt/Scrap material (repurposing old clothes) Needle and thread Pillow filler/cotton wool/beans/Yarn to stuff the pillows Tassels and Keyring (Optional) STEPS: Cut 2 x each shape from your material of choice. Moon and Star Template Sew the two pieces together, stopping when you get close to the end, so there is a small opening for you to fill the pillow Fill the pillow with your stuffing of choice (I used yarn, as that’s all I had on hand). Glitter Art Candle Holder Inspired by @honeyanddates WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Glass jar/Candle Holder (We up cycled a Bath and Body Works Candle) Contact paper Mod Podge Brush Scissors Glitter STEPS: Cut a piece of contact paper the size of the outside surface of the jar Draw the design which you want for your jar. Cut out the design with scissors or and x-acto knife Stick the contact paper onto the outside surface of the jar. This will expose the glass only for the areas you wish to apply glitter to Apply mod podge over the jar and sprinkle a heavy layer of glitter Remove the contact paper, revealing your glitter design 27. Sadaqa Pouches WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Felt in various colors Scissors Glue/Double Sided Tape Velcro dot stickers Stickers to embellish (Optional) STEPS: Cut a rectangular piece of felt. This should be twice the height you wish the pouch to be, plus a little extra for the flap Cut out shapes to decorate with.
