CURRENT BOOKING IN INDIAN RAILWAYS

Current Booking is a type of reservation process available in Indian Railways where

passengers can book train tickets in person at the train station just a few hours before
the departure of the train. This type of booking is available only after the final chart
preparation and after all the confirmed tickets and waiting list tickets have been
allocated.

Current Booking is done at the current reservation counters at the railway stations. It is
subject to availability and can be done on a first-come-first-served basis. The booking
can be made only for the available seats and berths. The fares for Current Booking are
the same as that of the Tatkal Booking.

Passengers who are unable to get a confirmed ticket through the regular reservation
process can try their luck with the Current Booking option. However, there is no
guarantee of getting a ticket through this method, and it is recommended that
passengers make alternative arrangements if they are unable to get a ticket through
Current Booking.
