The gist of the question demands one to discuss on the economic development policies which

have been implemented in Zimbabwe since 1980. Some of the policies includes Land Reform
Program, Transitional Stabilization Program and National Development Strategy 1. In this case
the writer is going to avail the achievements of the above mentioned economic development
policies such as employment creation, infrastructural building and economic stabilization just to
mention a few. In as much as the policies have their achievements, they also live some gapes due
to different aspects for instance, shortage of financial resources, human resources together with
materialistic resources. Hence, economic development policies which have been implemented in
Zimbabwe since 1980 are going to be discussed as the essay progresses.

Kruiger (2012) defines economic development as the process where by simple low income
national economies are transformed into modern industrial economies.

To commence with Land Reform Program is one of the economic development policies which
have been Implemented in Zimbabwe since 1980. Land Reform Program which was introduced
in Zimbabwe in 2000 aimed at giving black people land which was taken from the whites. This
program gives land to the landless black people and it lead to the economic development
because, the blacks used the land to grow crops such as, maize and wheat which they used for
home consumption and also for selling to the markets. They had the money from the land
through farming which they used to construct their roads to the market places and that was
infrastructural development which was done by the blacks ever since they were given the land
for farming. Even though the blacks had the land, it created unemployment to some blacks. Most
