BSED-SOCIAL STUDIES 3
The consequences of World War I may still be felt a century later. It was the deadliest
war in history, involving more countries and costing more money than any other war
before it. In terms of global gain, the Great War redrawn political borders and introduced
modern weaponry such as poison gas, machine guns, and tanks, while also spurring
the development of practical innovations. From Pilates to Kleenex to drones, these
World War I innovations are now commonplace. However, it is reported that this event
has pitfalls as it affects the economy, politics, society and people's way of living.
Furthermore, the Great War brought down four monarchies: Germany, Turkey, Austria-
Hungary, and Russia. People were more receptive to other ideologies as a result of the
war, including the Bolsheviks who took power in Russia and the fascists who later won
in Italy and Germany. Finally, the war altered the global economic balance, leaving
heavily indebted European nations and elevating the United States to the position of the
world's largest industrial power and creditor.

Part II. Treaty Analysis. Using the template below, state and analyse at least four (4)
of the various treaties that were concluded during and after the Great War. State their
gains and pitfalls and/or factors that have contributed to their futility
2. How do you think geopolitics, at that time, impacted the Great War ?
In my opinion, geopolitism influenced the Great War in the sense that it was
the result of secret alliances, internal politics, and the desire to expand
empires, which had created distrust and dislike among many European
powers.
3. Who are the major players of the Great War and what were their participation
during said war?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Ferdinand Foch were the
primary participants in the Great War. During the conflict, Archduke Franz
Ferdinand was heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire's imperial crown. His
assassination on June 28, 1914, lit the fuse that sparked the Great War.
Kaiser Wilhelm II, on the other hand, was the commander in chief of the
German armed forces and retained the authority to make higher-level
military command adjustments. During the last months of World War I,
Ferdinand Foch was Marshal of France and leader of all Allied forces. Foch
served as a commander during the Battle of the Marne and as Assistant
Commander-in-Chief of France's Northern Army under General Joseph
Joffre.
4. What event ended the Great War? Did the war really come to an end?
The Treaty of Versailles ended the Great War, and it was signed on June
28, 1919. The treaty's primary writers were the leaders of France, England,
Italy, and the United States. The resulting treaty was a compromise that did
not fully satisfy anyone, least of all Germany. The conditions were severe
on Germany, declaring that it was exclusively to blame for beginning the
war and required it to disarm, cede its foreign possessions, and pay large
reparations for the Allies' losses. In my opinion, the war ended because
they were required to observe specific regulations and treaties that would
benefit the people and nations as a whole.
5. What major consequences occurred after the Great War? Were these
consequences to the advantage of the all the nations involved?
The First World War destroyed empires, established numerous new nation-
states, abolished old countries, formed new ones, redrawn borders,
international organizations were established, and many new and old
ideologies took root in people's minds. It also encouraged independence
movements in Europe's colonies. In my opinion, the aforementioned effects
do not benefit all nations concerned since they must spend time and effort
rebuilding on things that damage their property, people, and nation as a
whole. They must take steps to restore their country's stability, firmness,
and strength.
