• Store operation is about executing the strategies and policies of the
retail business at the store level on a day to day basis.
Store Layout
• A retail store layout (whether physical or digital) is the strategic use of
space to influence the customer experience.
Store Design
• Retail store design is a branch of marketing and considered part of the
overall brand of the store.
Impact on Consumer Minds
Store Operation- should give best experience of shopping with least
effort.
Store layout-Well designed layouts are extremely important because
they strongly influence in-store traffic patterns, shopping atmosphere,
shopping behavior, and operational efficiency.
Store design- should attract customers, enable them to locate
merchandise, keep them in the store for as long time.
COVID-19: Consumers change how they shop,
work and live
• Many consumers are facing new personal situations, with changes in income and
leisure time, which are influencing attitudes and behaviors.
• Consumers are shopping with greater awareness of the environment, health and
cost, favoring locally-sourced products and neighborhood stores.
• The huge rise in digital commerce, especially among new or low-frequency
consumers, is likely to continue post-pandemic.
