Ways we can
Drift Away
from Christ
and His Church
It is so important that a person
draw near to God (James 4:8) so
that God will draw near to him. It is
necessary that a Christian continue
to grow in devotion to Christ. The
book of Hebrews is about
Christians who were drifting away
from His church. In Hebrews 12:1
we read, "Therefore we must give
the more earnest heed to the
things we have heard, lest we drift
away."
These are some ways we can drift
away from Christ and His Church:
1. LACK OF ATTENDANCE TO
THE BIBLE STUDIES AND
WORSHIP SERVICES OF THE
CHURCH (Hebrews 10:24-25)
2. LACK OF PARTICIPATION IN
THE WORK OF THE CHURCH
(1 Corinthians 15:58)
3. LACK OF BEING DEVOTED IN
PRAYER (1 Thessalonians
5:17)
4. LACK OF FELLOWSHIP WITH
OTHER CHRISTIANS (Acts
2:42-47)
5. LACK OF STUDYING THE
WORK OF GOD (2 Timothy
2:15)
6. HAVING THE WRONG
PRIORITIES (Matthew 6:33)
The amazing thing is that there is
a positive side to the things to the
left. The opposite of what we have
listed will help us to be dedicated
to Christ and His Church. To be
faithful and pleasing to the Lord,
GROWTH INVOLVES CHANGE. It is
easier and more comfortable to
stay where you are instead of
going through a change, even if
the change will be for the better.
Drifting is a gradual/slow thing, it
does not happen all at once.The
dangerous thing about it is that
you somethings don't even realize
what is happening until it's too
late. Baptism, being in Christ,
demands change. Be willing to
change that you will be pleasing
to the Lord and have the hope of
Eternal Life with Him.
