PROCEDURE FOR MANAGEMENT OF HAZARDOUS
AND OTHER WASTES
Responsibilities of the occupier:
(1) For the management of hazardous and
other wastes, an occupier shall follow the
following steps, namely:-
(a) Prevention
(b) Minimization
(c) Reuse
(d) Recycling
(e) recovery, utilisation including co-processing
(f) safe disposal

scope of submitting bank guarantee in the event of spillage,
leakage or fire while handling the hazardous and other waste.
Grant of authorisation for managing
hazardous and other wastes
Application shall be accompanied by
(a) consent to establish /operate granted by
the State Pollution Control Board under the
Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)
Act, 1974 (25 of 1974) and the Air
(Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act,
1981 (21 of 1981);
(c) In case of renewal of authorisation, a self-
certified compliance report on effluent,
emission standards and the conditions in the
authorisation for hazardous and other
wastes:
Application for renewal of authorisation may be made three
months before the expiry of such authorisation:
Power to suspend or cancel an
authorization (Rule 6)
(1) The State Pollution Control Board, if in its opinion the
holder of the authorization has failed to comply with any
of the conditions of the authorization after giving him a
reasonable opportunity of being after recording reasons
thereof in writing cancel or suspend the authorization.
(2) The State Pollution Control Board, may, give directions
to the person whose authorization has been suspended
or cancelled for the safe storage, such person shall
comply with such directions.
