A STUDY ON IMPACT OF GST AS A WHOLE AT KANCHIPURAM

DISTRICT

Abstract:

France is the first country to implement GST in 1954. Within 62 years of its
advent, about 160 countries in the world have adopted GST because this tax has
the capacity to raise revenue in the most transparent and neutral manner. when
GST is implemented, tax will be imposed on agricultural products also, this may
lead to rising in the price of the agricultural products, which is considered to be
basic entity for the survival. About 52 per cent of the total rural livelihood
depends on this sector as their primary means of livelihood, so it is important to
study the impact of GST on the Agriculture sector.
It has replaced total indirect structure such as Central excise, custom, entry tax
and service tax etc. GST will unify all the indirect tax under an umbrella in order to
foster a common market in the country. Thereby, GST implementation and
liberalization of tax policies on certain commodities will create a beneficial impact
on industry, individual and economy of India. GST is implemented for single tax
system in the country
