Same sound different meaning .

Words has the same sound but different spelling :


• buy / bye
• sun / son
• too / two

Consonant and vowel :


There are tow kinds of sounds : consonant sounds (C) and vowel sounds (V). For example , in the duck ,
there are three sounds , (CVC). The number of sounds in a word is not usually the same as number of
letters.

Alliteration and rhyme :


• repeat the first sound ( alliteration) , for example Donald Duck.
• repeat the final sound or sounds (rhyme) for example Ronald McDonald.

The vowel sounds /eI/ and /æ/ :

/eI/ : like in the words ( eight) and (age).


/æ/ : like in the words (hat) and (cat).

Spelling
/eI/ A_E (mate) , AY (say) , EY(grey) El (eight) AI(wait) , EA (great)
/æ/ A but note if there if an R after the A .

The vowel sounds /i:/ and /e/ :

/i:/ : like in the words (key) and (sweet).


/e/ : like in the words (red) and (friend).

Spelling
/i:/ EE (feet), EA (eat) , E-E (scene). And sometimes E (Me) or IE(piece)
/e/ E (men) . And sometimes EA (death), IE (friend ), A (many) , AI (said)
