Business-to-business (B2B) is a type of business transaction, such as

one between a wholesaler and a retailer or a manufacturer and a
wholesaler. Business-to-business refers to transactions that take place
between businesses rather than between a business and a specific
consumer. Contrasting with business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-
to-government (B2G) transactions are business-to-business transactions.
B2B transactions tend to happen in the supply chain, where one
company will purchase raw materials from another to be used in the
manufacturing process. Business-to-business communication refers to
channels for establishing connections between staff members of various
organizations, such as social media. B2B communication refers to this
sort of communication between employees of two or more businesses.
Late in 2018, Forrester said the B2B e-commerce market topped $1.134
trillion—above the $954 billion it had projected for 2018 in a forecast
released in 2017. That's roughly 12% of the total $9 trillion in total US
B2B sales for the year. They expect this percentage to climb to 17% by
2023. The internet provides a robust environment in which businesses
can find out about products and services and lay the groundwork for
future business-to-business transactions. Planning is necessary for
effective business-to-business interactions. Such transactions rely on
account management staff members of a company to develop business
client connections. For successful business transactions to occur,
relationships between businesses must also be fostered, generally
through professional meetings prior to sales.

Large corporate accounts and business-to-business transactions are

typical for manufacturing companies. One of Apple's major suppliers in
the creation of the iPhone, for instance, is Samsung. Apple has business-
to-business connections with organisations including Intel, Panasonic,
and semiconductor manufacturer Micron Technology. B2B transactions
are also essential to the health of the auto sector. Many automobile parts
are independently produced, and automakers buy these parts to put cars
together. For instance, multiple businesses typically manufacture and
sell door locks, electronics, hoses, batteries, and tyres directly to
automakers. B2B transactions are also carried out by service providers.
For instance, organisations that specialise in property management,
housekeeping, and industrial cleanup sometimes sell these services only
to other businesses rather than to private individuals.
