The visual appearance and integrity of our packaging (sales quality) are important aspects in the
perception of our brands by the consumer.
It goes therefore without saying that monitoring the quality of the produced packaging in the
brewery on a regular basis should be firmly embedded in our day-to-day operations.
For this reason sales quality as expressed by the Packaging Quality Index (PQI) is a reporting
parameter in the Heineken Manufacturing Star and an integral part of First Time Right in the
packaging department.
In order to calculate the PQI the final produced packaging should be judged by using a defined
classification and list of nonconformity category
