State verbs are always used with the simple form.
Verbs of senses (see – hear – smell – touch – taste)
Verbs of feelings (love – hate – like – adore – dislike…)
Verbs of opinion and thought (think – understand – know – realize – assume…)
Verbs of possession (possess – cost – have – own…)

Some state verbs could be used with -ing if they show a different meaning.
e.g. I see an apple tree in front of me. (eyesight)
I am seeing my friends in the afternoon. (meeting)
e.g. I have a red car (to own)
She is having a baby in two months. (giving birth)
e.g. I think you are smart. (idea)
I’m thinking of throwing a party next week (planning)
