This webinar takes place on Monday, April 3 2023, at the Graham Wiliam Soeryadjaya
Building or GWS UKI. The event began with the Indonesia Raya Hymn and UKI
Marshals and after that entered the speech by Dr. Rachmita Maun Harahap, ST., M.Sn.
as KND Commissioner. Here he tells a little about his childhood about how it started
until he lost his teeth and now he is waiting for a dental frame to be designed for him.
Next is the speech from Mr. Chancellor of the Indonesian Christian University Dr.
Dhaniswara K. Harjono, S.H., MBA. Next is the reading of the Declaration.
This webinar discusses the problem of Persons with Disabilities and UKI’s response will
be regarding this matter and UKI is recommended to accommodate students with
disabilities.
Persons with Disabilities are any person who has physical, intellectual, mental and/or
sensory limitations for a long time who, in interacting with the environment, may
experience obstacles and difficulties in adapting fully and effectively with other citizens
based on equal rights. The problem of disability is not only a problem within the country
but also an international problem.
Moving on to the first speaker, namely Mrs. Yuyun Wahyuningrum, M.A as the
Representative of Indonesia and Chair of the Asean Inter-Governmental Human Rights
Commission (ACIHR). Here he emphasized that everyone must change their mindset
on this in order to create a good civilization in a country. He also explained that
inclusiveness means that people with disabilities can access health services, education,
work, get nutrition, social protection, and other rights are fulfilled, so that people with
disabilities can be independent, become superior human resources, and can even
contribute to the development of the nation and the state. Efforts to change the
curriculum, he also explained about Integration, namely the process of interaction with
students with disabilities in the same education.
He said that if there is state compliance with PEB
Then the order of our country will change, the order in interacting with others will
change. World civilization will be created because of this.
The following speakers are Dr. Rachmita Maun Harahap, ST., M.Sn himself.
In his explanation, one of them was about the Disability Range and the obstacles to
Standardization of inclusive Design in tertiary institutions, namely Corridors, entrances
or exits, Ramps, Stairs, Hondrails, Classrooms, Toilets, Signs and information and
Control Center Development Strategies.
The Indonesian Christian University is recommended to develop inclusive campus
services.
The last speaker was Mrs. Dr.rer.pol. Ied Veda Rimrosa Sitepu, S.S., M.A.
In his discussion, he conveyed the steps that must be taken in responding to persons
with disabilities, that it is very important to determine the type of disability that can enter
each institution and that infrastructure and supporting facilities need to be prepared. He
also emphasized the importance of building awareness and understanding of this issue.
