AIR FORCE SPECIAL WARFARE
RETRAINING PROCEDURES
Officer Retraining (19ZXX)
Interested Officers and Enlisted members ŝŶƚĞƌĞƐƚĞĚŝŶ
pursuŝŶŐ a career as a Special Tactics Officer/STO
(19ZXA), Tactical Air Control Party Officer/TACPO
(19ZXB), or Combat Rescue Officer/CRO (19ZXC), please
download and review the Phase I Applications attached
to the left of this form. Each program consists of a two-
phase process.
Phase I boards are held at varying times each FY
depending on what career field. The dates are outlined
in the applications and also detail the prerequisites
required to submit an application.
Phase II is an in-person Assessment & Selection course
where candidates ĂƌĞ tested mentally and physically to
determine if they will be successful as a 19ZX officer.
Selected candidates will be begin their respective
pipelines at the conclusion of Phase II, A&S, or TOPT.
Enlisted members selected will be scheduled for OTS
first and then will begin the 19ZXX pipeline after
commissioned.

Enlisted Retraining (1ZXX1/1T0X1)
For First-Term Airmen (FTA) and NCO’s interested in
retraining into one of the four Air Force Special Warfare
career fields͖Pararescue/PJ (1Z1X1), Combat Control/
CCT (1Z2X1), Tactical Air Control Party/TACP (1Z3X1),
Special Reconnaissance/SR (1Z4X1),ŽƌSurvival, Evasion,
Resistance, Escape/SERE Specialist (1T0X1) will need to
visit the AF Portal and access myPers and apply for
Retraining.

Attached to this form is a slide deck titled “Enlisted
Retraining Slides” that provides additional details on how
to navigate the myPers retraining application process.
Candidates selected to retrain can expect to attend the
Special Warfare Candidate Course who are retraining
into PJ, CCT, TACP and SR. From there retraining
candidates for PJ, CCT, and SR will attend Assessment &
Selection and those retraining into TACP will attend the
TACP Preparatory Course. SERE retraining candidates will
attend the SERE Specialist Orientation Course (SST-OC).
At the conclusion of these courses, successful
candidates will be begin theŝƌ respective pipeline
schools for each of these career fields.
