CLASSROOM Students will be grouped at tables such that they are facing

• Provide students with short passages and ask what is
stated and what is not
• Provide worksheet and ask students to fill in the blanks
• Show inferences poster and go over highlighted points
GUIDED PRACTICE:
• Provide students with graphic organizer and have them
work in small groups to identify inferences in a passage
• Each group will then share their inferences with the class
and discuss strategies used to identify them
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:
• Provide students with a short passage and ask them to
make inferences using their graphic organizer
CLOSURE:
• Review the inferences that students made during
independent practice and discuss how making inferences
help them understand the text
• Summarize key points of the lesson and give students
homework assignment to practice making inferences with
different texts
