There was a period during the start of 21st century, Kathakali

as an art form was in the phase of decline. Its popularity

among the people got diminished, the number of
performances inside as well as outside Kerala reduced
drastically. Because of that to rejuvenate this art form,
around 2010-to the present even Kerala State Government as
well as many other societies such as PSVN have worked.
Giving a big priority to this art form in State Youth Festivals,
Making kathakali as a signature art form of kerala,
propagating its values through advertisements, making
Kathakali as poster of Kerala Tourism are some of the
measures.

RECENT CONDITION
Attavilakku, the lamp used in Kathakali performances, had
not been lit anywhere in the state for six months.This was
the biggest gap in the history of the art form and its impact
was tragic. And when it was revived in late June 2020, it
marked a new beginning for the art form that brought fame
and fame to Kerala along with tourists.Kathakali's first online

CONCLUSION
There are different opinions about how Kathakali as an art
form still surviving without having significant changes from
its original actual form. There are people who emphasising
on the point that Kathakali does need modernisation to a
great extend. “One can very easily do away with such aspects
of it without spoiling its artistic value. Also they are saying
that everything changes to suit the time. So why not, the
kathakali too?” Even though personally I admire how the way
this art form succeeded in keeping its originality even after
centuries. I genuinely want to regenerate this art form as the
popular art form of Kerala as it was in the past, with its
authenticity.
